Welcome to the Web site for the 2013 edition of ECI 509, Integrating Writing and Technology, a study abroad course for teachers offered by North Carolina State University at the University of Surrey, in Guildford, England. This course is taught by Dr. Ruie Pritchard, Dr. Kevin Oliver, and co-instructors Megan Poole, Sara Lee, and Michael Cook. Funding for teacher travel was made possible by the generosity of the Borchardt Fund, administered by the Triangle Community Foundation.
On this site you can view our "blog" with daily summaries from student "scribes," or you can click into the grade-level pages of course participants (i.e., elementary, middle, high, and higher education), that include their writing and technology portfolios. In addition, we have separate Pinterest pages to archive student cultural reflections on England and the United States. Please visit our course archive for details on the first edition of this course. This course will be run for the third time in the summer of 2014. Interested teachers may use the email link at the top for more information. Participants are competitively selected by application and interview. Teachers selected from Chatham, Orange, Durham, and Wake counties, are eligible for Borchardt scholarships. |
