I hold a M.Ed in Instructional Technology from NCSU and a BA in Elementary Education from Elon College. I have taught for 33 years in Wake County Public Schools. I was a classroom teacher for 14 years, an instructional resource teacher for 5 years and a technology facilitator for 12 years. As a Capital Area Writing Project (CAWP) teacher, I researched writing strategies and co-authored a book titled “Nailing the Prompt”, (a teacher’s guide to writing test success) which was part of the Wake County literacy curriculum for several years. I have also coached writing workshop with the integration of Web 2.0 technology tools at Turner Creek and Green Hope Elementary schools in Wake County, and at Pittsboro Elementary in Chatham county. My technology work for WCPSS has included training various elementary staffs on electronic report cards as well as creating electronic profile cards as a resource for teachers. I have provided many Web 2.0 presentations at conferences and also for classes at NCSU, Meredith, and WCPSS. My work as a teacher consultant for CAWP began in 1988, and I continued as a technology liaison with Donna Morrow from 2007-2010. I am currently a Technology Resource Teacher at an elementary school in Wake County, and also a Literacy Coach and tech support for a new company, Targeted Reading Intervention, Inc. (TRI).
