Lauren Elliott
I am first year teacher at Garner Magnet High School, where I teach World History. I have a life long love of history and have known since the 4th grade that I wanted to do something with it. As a 5th grader, I had a shelf of books dedicated to the American Civil War and that interest has expanded to include early American history and European history. There is something special about visiting historical sites, I love to imagine who spent time there and how they lived. I have a Bachelor of Science in History from Shenandoah University, where I also played soccer. I have a Masters in Public History and a Masters in Teaching from N.C. State University. I had the opportunity to play soccer in Italy in 2007 and to run the Dublin Marathon in 2010. I love running, yoga, reading, traveling, and hanging out with my boyfriend (Jeff) and pug (Bandit).

Postcards Home I
Gracing the county of Surrey, and built
Upon the River Wey. It is simple to
Identify with the sweet smells,
Lasting sun, and its sentry if the past.
Dancing children and
Forging adults
Organize themselves, bustling up
Regrettable hills and
Dreaming of castles, battles, and Mad Hatters

Postcard II
Whistling old trees,
Inspired by long ago stores, of
Nasty personalities,
Chaste beauties, and
Heroes in shiny amour.
Entertaining the young and old,
Secrets untold, hidden by time
Tempting students of the past;
Eager to understand, but can only pick away the
Ravishes of time

Postcards III
On the raunchy side of the River Thames, about 20 paces from the ferry docks, stands the proud Globe Theater.
